Well it all depends on where you are from and where you have been.
#1 People being so rude and mean..
I have lived in Texas, California, Nevada, New York, Florida and Colorado.
People are ok. Most people I have met that are great are not from here. Few Natives are in Denver area they range from great to a real piece of work. Over all people in different areas are of there surroundings like most places in the USA. Tolerable.
# 2Drivers being so crazy..
YES! It is not because of the transplants either.
After driving in various states, I can say this is the worst and many will agree. Insurance is more costly.
Colorado= A red light means 3 more cars can still make it through….
#3Job's are going down hill.
Depends on what you are looking for, and yes they are getting harder to find.
#4 When it snows they do not plow the roads because they think the sun is going to melt it.
Yes in regards to most neighborhood streets. Most main highways and streets are plowed. They have had a very hard winter and so what USUALLY melts has not- because they had snow almost every weekend.
#5 Traffic is so so terrible.
No. It is not the traffic….after being in NewYok & California you can’t call that traffic.
The Drivers you share the road with make it Miserable.
#6 Parking downtown is so expensive.
Yes but not as bad as some other big cities….it’s downtown.
#7 They say that food sucks in Denver specially Chinese or Indian, and then whey to much for the cost.
NO, that is not true. It depends on where you go. And it is not anymore expensive than any other metro area.
#8 People are very very snobby.
NO. There are all kinds here from Snobby to Red-neck.
That is the least personality type found unless you are in Highlands Ranch Maybe BUT I had friends there.
YES, they are out there but not predominant.
.#9 NO class in what so ever dressing up, no style.
Well I can say that has changed in 10 years. No Style has gone to an awareness of style.
There is a Nordstrom and some other high-end department stores - AND Macy’s has arrived there!!
Many people dress for their environment there. Snow = warm cloths and Mountains = the same.
Moreover, style is a couple years behind in some areas…..Some don’t find a need for it.
.#10 And finally real-estate is out of the rooftop.
YES, it is a buyers market in Colorado. It has been recently rated as one of the worst to purchase a home in the US.
HOWEVER, it’s not as bad as New York and California for pricing overall.
Here is an email my cousin sent me who recently left Colorado & is a person whom really enjoyed living there.

*** It was only a matter of time before Jeff Foxworthy took a couple of pot shots at Colorado.

34. You have an $800 stereo in your $300 truck.
35. A sudden loss of cabin pressure is not a big deal.
36. You think a red light means 3 more cars can go. ;
37. Where we're going, we don't need roads!!
38. You know where Doc Holliday's grave is.
39. You know where Buffalo Bill's grave is.
40. You know where the real "South Park" is.
41. You can recognize the license plates of all 50 states on sight.

47. They were in the same year!
48. You've urinated on the Continental Divide just so it could run into both oceans
49. And the most important: You get a certain feeling of satisfaction from knowing that California and Texas are both downstream.
50.You know what a down slope and an up slope weather pattern is.
51. You actually understand these jokes and send them to your Colorado friends.
References :
#2, 5, 6 are true
It's the same for ANY city the size of Denver.

The other statements, to be kind, sound like information culled from someone that wouldn't be happy ANYWHERE.

Most of everyone has this question covered but I'm so aghast about the opinions that you've formed I have to add my 2 cents too.

1. We are a friendly city. No place is going to be 100% wonderful but I've never felt like anyone was excptionally rude or unhelpful. We like tourists and out of towners here.

2. Any interstate driving gets crazy, I don't care where it is. But there are many ways to get around town and the streets are pretty decent compared to other places. people stay off your bumper and actually know how to sue the turn signal so I think we are pretty advanced here.

3. The entire US economy is rebounding. Denver has a lot of jobs and is no different than any other prt of the country. The unemployment rate is very low.

4. The sun does melt the snow. Usually we get a few inches and its melted by noon. The road crews are out treating the roads before the storms hit and flow through the night. You will have no problems driving on the roads after a snow storm. Within 24 hours you wouldn't know it had even snowed.

5. traffic isn't any worse than any other major city. If you want to leave downtown in rush hour you'll get into some traffic. That isn't so unexpected now is it?

6. It costs to park anywhere. There are plenty of lot and meter options. The public transportation system actually works very well with the new light rail. So parking isn't an issue.

7. We have a miillion Chineese restuarants, take your pick. We have a lot of Indian too. I'm sure the cost varies just like any other place. This place is fantastic for food. Steak, Mexican, Southwestern and BBQ is our speiclaty and you can find just about any other type of food you want.

8. Snobby people live in the high end areas of every town. Stay away from them if you don't like snobbery.

9. We are not Milan if thats what someone expects. But people downtown dress very nicely. We do have a Sacks 5th Avenue so there is hope. Obviously we are not as fancy as the east coast but its a western thing, not just a Denver thing. Its pretty bad to label an entire town as having no class or sense of style.

10. Real estate is a little high but its not California or New York high. It depends what you are compring it too. Rents are resonable and you can find an affordable house. It all depends on what part of town you are looking in. But guess what, the pay is a bit higher here than other places.

I love Denver, it is my home and I welcome anyone here who wants to give us a try. The sun shines over 300 days a year and the weather is always changing but usually warmer than you's expect. The town has its own personality and we are very proud people. The scenery is gorgeous and you have a million options of things to do outdoors. The downtown is fresh, new and hip. The sports culture is amazing and we have many great teams to root for. I really don't know whats not to like about this place.
References :
I would move to Colorado in a heartbeat but yes from my view real estate is out of the rooftop...
Other then that can't say have only visited but didn't notice any of the other. Have looked at house prices though.
Good luck on your decision!
References :
#1 The only people that are rude and mean are the people that arent from CO
#2Drivers are crazy, yes, but no more then anywhere else
#3Maybe in the Denver Met, but CO's unemployment is nice and low
#4 When it snows they do not plow the NEIGHBORHOOD roads because the main roads have priority
#5 Traffic is so so terrible only on the interstate because the whole thing is undergoing so super-duper expansion project
#6 Parking downtown is so expensive in the private lots, public lots are like 2.00 per hour
#7 I actually like chinese food places in denver
8 People are only snobby in cherry creek and highlands ranch =P
#9 If denver had no class, would they film the real world there?
#10 Colorado real estate prices are rising, but they are rising from an all time low
References :
ok answers:
1. some people are rude and mean. others are great. every city has rude people.
2. driving is kind of crazy downtown and on freeways and highways and stuff
3. dunno
4. they do plow. they do all the main roads and most neighborhood streets. some side roads don't get much attention though. plus the snow usually does melt it fast.
5. traffic's only bad in the mornings and evenings
6. not that expensive, but more than some places.
7. if you think that stuff sucks, then go to some place you like. not that hard.
8. that goes with number 1. some are, some aren't. same everywhere.
9. ok, whoever said that i HIGHLY doubt has gone visited the heart of the city. it's really nice and people don't dress like slobs. we don't dress like slobs anyways.
10. no idea
References :
living there and has been for 10 years

That is sooo silly. I am guessing someone you knew came here and had a bad experience... There are all different types of people in every city, good and bad! I guarantee you there are more good than bad here. So I owuldn't worry about that!! And aren't drivers crazy everywhere? Why would they be different here in Denver than they are anywhere else? We are all human... Job market is actually pretty good right now... And they do plow the roads when it snows!! They actually just spent $10 million on snow melters to get it outta here quicker. Traffic is only terrible during rush hour, just like any other city. I happen to LOVE the food here! Ya, there are a few bad restaurants, but the good ones aren't hard to find! Some people are snobby, but not all. And we love to dress up!! And can be very stylish!! Real estate is somewhat pricy, but not in all areas. It is pricy because so many people want to live here because it is such a great place!!!!! I would really like to meet the person who told you all of these things. Living in any city can be a terrible experience if you allow it to.
References :
I have lived here for 26 years.

Most of these accusations are true. I've been here for 40 years and things have generally gone in the crapper and much of it has to do with the ungodly number of people who have moved here. If I weren't so few years from retirement age I'd get the heck out.
P.S. People who are mean and rude probably don't see the mean and rude side of Denver. And it's not the whole state that is this way. Get away from Denver and it changes drastically. I too, am a Colorado native (52 years) and if I was going to give the U.S. an enema I'd stick the nozzle right on the middle of Denver.
