realestate bidding legal or not?

I placed a bid on a bank owned home and the selling agints wife (who is a realestate agint herself) put in a higher bid. Is it legal for her to do this being that the house has been on the market for several months and as soon as our bid went in so did hers?

Sure it is legal. She was most likely waiting for them to lower the price, but then you came along. She wants the house.

Remember she will get it for 6% less then her bid, because of the commissions to her husband.

I would find another house and let her have that one.

I do not see why not. I’ve had looked at houses and the sellers agent has informed me that a bid had been placed on the property and suggested if I was interested, I should consider doing the same.

You’d have to contact the real estate commission of your state for a determination. Having a license and bidding on a property against a non licensed individual is not against the law but given what you stated there could possibly be a conflict of interest. This is a very tricky situation for licensee’s and if I was married I would rather buy a diamond ring for my wife than to let her bid on a property after I acquired a bid from a customer/client.

sounds a bit like shill bidding…. if she is bidding to raise the selling price and she is married to the sellers agent it sounds like a conflict of interest! contact the real estate commission fast and tell them of this.
If it is agaist state law they will deal with the agents directly!
